LESSON:
Genesis 15-17 & Luke 6
SCRIPTURE:
Luke 6:46
"But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?"
OBSERVATION:
Right in the gut, this one. It's hard to live a righteous life. The world is full of temptation and, usually, that temptation doesn't look like it's wrong. Most of the time, it looks like the right decision. Make more money. Buy a big house. Get married. Look good. Do the things your parents taught you to do. Have all the experiences so you can gain all the wisdom. These things can be righteous, if they're blessings. Or they can be sins, if God isn't put first. It's hard to give up what you've always been taught is right for what is ACTUALLY right and it's hard to know the difference between the two.
APPLICATION:
I want to call my Lord, Lord AND do the things he says without complaint, or willfulness, or doubt, or pride.
PRAYER:
Lord, help me to strive to be more like you. Help me to weather my pride and stubbornness and to focus on Your spirit and no just on the tip of my own nose.
